Did you know that Over 95% of vegetable varieties available a hundred years ago are now EXTINCT? A seed catalogue of the day listed 151 kinds of peas,112 types of lettuce 86 types of broccoli and 17 kinds of endive. By limiting variety we diminish health and create the conditions for future "Irish potato" style famines. Maybe we should take a cue from Norway who have invested millions to create  a global repository for what many consider to be our true wealth - the diversity of seeds that large Agri-business, in its bid to patent and own just a few Genetically Modified, and extraordinarily vulnerable varieties, has no interest in maintaining.

Indeed, about 75% of our food is from only 5 AgCorps Vertically integrated, from seed through processing and retail and horizontally integrated having merged with Big Pharma and Big Chem and all of it run on Big Oil. SHould we perhaps be working to make Norway’s common sense more common place ?
